Recently, Tuggeranong Hyperdome held a social media competition where we gave away a styling session with local blogger and stylist Jemma Mrdak from A Stylish Moment, to one lucky man and woman! The lucky winners received a personal styling session, as well as $1,000 spending money to take on their styling session to revamp their wardrobe.
Our menswear winner was Daniel Olsen, who was nominated by his sister-in-law, Lea Davis.
Lea’s entry read “I nominate my brother in-law Daniel. He is one of the hardest working people I know. Not only is he a great husband, he is also an amazing dad to 3 kids, works a very demanding full time job and still comes home most nights to help with bedtimes, cooking and cleaning. He always lends a hand to family and friends when in need so I thought I would return the favor! He NEEDS this prize desperately as he has been wearing the same sets of clothes since I first met him which was over 12 years ago!!! Please give my brother in law the gift of fashion sense, thank you!”.
Before Daniel’s styling session we discussed what he wanted to get out of the workshop, and decided that our aim would be to get him out of his comfort zone, and find him both casual and corporate/going out looks that he would actually wear! Daniel in particular, wanted to find an outfit that he could wear to an upcoming wedding, as well as a few casual looks that he could wear on the weekends.
We began the styling session by searching for an outfit that Daniel could wear to a garden wedding in Spring. Instead of opting for the classic black and white suit, we ventured into Connor and found a great navy blue suit pant and jacket, that was ideal for a spring wedding look. It was here where we also found a great shirt , as well as matching tan shoes and belt!
We then set off to Roger David, Tarocash and Jeanswest where we were on the look out for some great casual wear looks that Daniel could wear both on weeknights and weekends. Daniel’s main aim was to get out of wearing his work gear, and into wearing casual clothes that also made him look and feel sophisticated, but also comfortable.
In Roger David, Daniel tried on various knits, shirts and trousers to get a feel for what styles he liked, and what he could see himself wearing day to day. We worked with Daniel on different colour matching for different seasons, as well as layering options.
We then ventured into Jeanswest, where we were on the look out for a couple of quality pairs of trousers and shirts. This is where we hit the jackpot, finding a variety of casual wear looks that Daniel felt comfortable wearing day-to-day.
After finishing up our shopping experience, it was time to treat Daniel to a hair makeover at Moe & Co, where he got a hair and beard trim hair to complete his new wardrobe.
Doesn’t he look swish!
