Spring has well and truly sprung in Canberra, which means it’s time to refresh your home interior and exterior with some fresh new looks.

The warmer weather can easily inspire us to want to shake things up in our home, so we have devised a few spring home and garden trends that you can incorporate into your home over the next few months, as well as where to find them.

As much as many of us would love to revamp our entire house each season, below we have showcased some quick, easy and affordable ways to integrate some new trends into your home, which will have you feeling like you’ve had a full makeover!

EXTERIOR / GARDEN TRENDS

Patio pots filled with colour

A great way to jazz up your home patio or front porch is with a range of pots, filled with an assortment of colourful flowers and plants. These are easy to mix and match and move throughout the year depending on the climate. We recommend arranging the pots in a mix-match fashion, so as to provide a great arrangement.

TIP: White or grey pots work well against the contrast of the bright colours and greenery – these will really stand out too.

Vertical Garden

Vertical gardens are ideal for those who live in smaller spaces, or are wanting to add a bit of coloured vibrance to the side of their home. They can be constructed in many ways, which makes them extremely versatile too.

Vertical gardens also make for great feature walls or options for privacy as well.

Ambient lighting

As we gradually move into the warmer weather and naturally spend more time outside, it’s nice to have some ambient lighting surrounding the garden. Fairy lights and tree lights are a great way to add some ambiance to your backyard, and are especially good for creating an atmosphere when you’re entertaining!

INTERIOR TRENDS

Greys & Greens

Greys and greens are the colours of the warmer season – with grey’s providing a great neutral tone, and greens providing the colour and flair. Greens are also good colours for the warmer weather – think tropical plants and leaves, and are also ideal for providing a fresh look and feel in the home.

Think grey potted plants on shelves, or grey feature walls with green artwork!

Quirky lighting and geometric shapes

If you’re looking for an excuse to jazz up the lighting in your home, then let this be the answer. Many of us underestimate the power a good light installation can have in the home.

From hanging pendant lights to tall floor lights and quirky lamps with geometric shapes, there are an abundance of lighting styles out there for you to choose from, which are super affordable too; making them great for a seasonal shake up in the home.

Framed pictures in collages

A big trend at the moment is arranging multiple frames of different shapes and sizes, in a collage form either on the wall, or positioned on a shelf.

These are great, cheap alternatives to purchasing one main piece of artwork. Simply purchase various frames, and fill them with some and quirky imagery. This is a great, and affordable idea for springtime interior design.
